KAILASA's Ganesha Chaturthi Brahmotsavam

Ganesha Chaturthi is the sacred day when we celebrate the happening of Bhagavan Mahaganapati - the Primordial Lord of all beginnings, the Remover of all obstacles, and the Bestower of Completion. This is the day the cosmos celebrates the descent of the first son of Paramashiva, the Adi Vighnaharta, who holds the Ankusha and the Pasha - the goad of divine direction and the rope of cosmic order.

In KAILASA's Temples around the world this auspicious occasion is celebrated not as a mere festival, but as a living Brahmotsavam - the highest form of temple worship described in the Agamas, where Paramashiva and all thirty-three crore devas descend to the earthly plane to bless every being who participates.

The festival falls on the Chaturthi tithi, the fourth lunar day of the Shukla Paksha in the sacred month of Bhadrapada. The Ganesha Purana and Mudgala Purana both declare that it was on this very tithi that Paramashiva bestowed upon His son the supreme status of Prathamapujya - the deity who must be invoked first, before any sacred work, any spiritual practice, any divine endeavour can begin.

The Ganapatya Sampradaya is one of the six ancient major Sampradayas of Sanatana Hindu Dharma - an Advaita tradition that recognises Bhagavan Ganesha as Parameshvara, the Supreme Brahman, the Creator, Preserver and Destroyer of all that exists. Its core scripture, the Ganapati Atharvashirsha Upanishad, reveals Ganesha as the living Brahman: Tvam Brahma, Tvam Vishnus, Tvam Rudras, Tvam Indras - "You are Brahma, You are Vishnu, You are Rudra, You are Indra."

THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM, as the reviver of the ancient Hindu Sampradayas, has restored the Ganapatya Sampradaya to its living glory - bringing back its authentic Agamic practices, its sacred homas, its ritual protocols and its highest spiritual understanding to KAILASA's Temples around the world.

In 1981, when THE SPH was barely three years old in His sacred birthplace of Tiruvannamalai, He received a small Ganesha deity as a birthday gift. What followed is not a charming childhood story - it is the first recorded Leela of the living Paramashiva.

From the moment the deity entered His hands, THE SPH began living with Ganesha - not performing ritual, but existing in constant communion. When He woke, He woke Ganesha. When He brushed His teeth, He brushed Ganesha's. When He bathed, Ganesha received His bath. When He ate, He placed food before Ganesha and waited for Him to eat.

The defining moment came when THE SPH, hearing of the saint Nambiyar Nandi who had compelled Ganesha to eat through the power of his own Shraddha, decided He too would manifest the same miracle. Without food, without sleep, for two and a half days, the three-year-old Avatar sat with His deity - not eating until Ganesha ate. On the third day, in a state of Bhava Samadhi, He received the direct darshan and blessing of Bhagavan Ganesha - and when He opened His eyes, the food placed before the deity was gone.

At the age of eight or nine, THE SPH organised His very first public festival - a Ganesha Chaturthi celebration at the Arunachaleshwara Temple in Tiruvannamalai. Every Ganesha Chaturthi Brahmotsavam that KAILASA celebrates today is the global flowering of that first sacred festival.

Darshan is never merely seeing a great being. In the understanding of Sanatana Hindu Dharma it is a two-way transmission: the devotee looks upon THE SPH, and through that sacred act His divine consciousness enters the devotee's inner space - initiating, blessing, and awakening whatever is ready to be awakened.

When THE SPH celebrates Ganesha Chaturthi, it is Paramashiva celebrating the happening of His own son. To receive His darshan on this day is to stand before Paramashiva Himself on the day He blesses His first-born - and through that son, blesses all of humanity.
