What Is It?

The Daily Special Homas are a sacred sequence of seven specialized Ganapati Homas performed on successive days of KAILASA's Ganesha Chaturthi Brahmotsavam. One distinct form of Bhagavan Mahaganapati is invoked each day through the consecrated fire, with offerings such as ghee, Durva and modaka made into the Homa Kunda with the prescribed mantras.

The Ganapati tradition recognizes thirty-two forms of Ganesha, each embodying a particular cosmic function and dimension of grace. This seven-day sequence invokes Bala Ganapati, Pushti Ganapati, Rna Hara Ganapati, Buddhi Ganapati, Trailokya Mohanakara Ganapati, Arka Ganapati and Sankatahara Ganapati. Together they address the devotee's inner completion and outer life: contentment, nourishment, freedom from burdens, intelligence, protection, planetary harmony and relief from immediate difficulty.

Significance

Homa is among the most direct forms of invocation because the offering is placed into Agni, the consecrated fire through which it reaches the deity. The master tradition expresses this principle as Homagnau yajatiti homah: one who makes offerings into the sacred fire worships the deity directly, without an intermediary. The Homa Kunda is therefore not merely symbolic; it becomes the living center into which Bhagavan Mahaganapati is invoked to accept the offerings.

Within the Brahmotsavam, each day's homa opens a focused field of one form and power of Bhagavan Ganesha. The sequence allows the devotee's sankalpa to be offered through several complementary dimensions of His grace, while each individual homa remains complete and may be sponsored according to a specific prayer or need.

Bala Ganapati Homa - Santosha Pradam

Bala Ganapati is the eternal child-form of Bhagavan Mahaganapati, expressing perpetual freshness, causeless joy and the completeness of one untouched by incompletion. Bala does not refer only to youth. In the Agamic tradition, this state is Santosha, an inner contentment that does not depend upon outer circumstances. It is the space from which one can act, create and contribute without being driven by fear, greed or the demand for external validation.

utsaṅge girijāpate sthitam ajaṁ svānanda tejomayam bālaṁ sarvaguṇātmakaṁ gajamukhaṁ pītāmbarālaṅkṛtam | nānāratna vibhūṣitaṁ harihara brahmādibhis sevitam bhaktābhīṣṭa phalapradaṁ hṛdi bhaje vighneśvaraṁ siddhitam || - "Seated in the lap of the Lord of Girija - Paramashiva - is the eternal, unborn One, radiant with the light of His own Ananda. I meditate in my heart upon that child form Ganesha, who is the embodiment of all virtues, elephant-faced, adorned in golden garments, decorated with many sacred jewels, served and worshipped by Hari, Hara, Brahma and all the gods, the bestower of all the desires of His devotees, the Lord of obstacles, the giver of all Siddhis."

The Bala Ganapati Homa invokes this form for Santosha Pradam, the blessing of stable inner completion and the experience of Ananda as one's own nature. Through His grace, patterns of incompletion and withdrawal can loosen, the inner space can become available to a new beginning, and the devotee can rediscover the freshness with which life is met from completeness.

Pushti Ganapati Homa - Dhaanyavriddhi

Pushti Ganapati is Bhagavan Mahaganapati united with Pushti Shakti, the divine energy of nourishment, sustenance and growth. Pushti encompasses physical nourishment, the flourishing of family and community, the increase of crops and resources, and the expansion of spiritual capacity. This form is worshipped specifically for Dhaanyavriddhi, the increase of grains, food and the forms of material abundance that sustain life.

nāgāsyaṁ śaśiśekharaṁ trinayanam raktāmbaraṁ tundilam pāśābhīti viṣāṇakān śruṇivaraṁ hastair vahantaṁ vibhum | vāmāṅge vara puṣṭi śakti sahitaṁ śoṇādi bhūṣānvitam dhyāye caikarathaṁ mahāgaṇapatiṁ vighnāttakaṁ siddhitam || - "I meditate upon the One with the serpent face, crowned with the crescent moon, with three eyes, clothed in red garments, with a vast belly, holding in His hands the Pasha (rope), Abhaya (protection), the broken tusk, and the Ankusha (goad) - the all-pervading Lord, accompanied on His left side by the gracious Pushti Shakti, adorned with red and other ornaments - that singular, supremely powerful Maha Ganapati, the destroyer of all obstacles, the bestower of all Siddhis."

The Pushti Ganapati Homa is offered for the removal of scarcity and the opening of the channels of food, nourishment and sustaining abundance. Its prayer embraces the flourishing of households, communities, wealth and resources. At a deeper level, Pushti Ganapati nourishes the inner being with a satiation and Ananda that material increase alone cannot provide.

Rna Hara Ganapati Homa - Relief from All Debts

Rna Hara Ganapati is invoked for the removal of Rna, a word that includes financial debt as well as obligation and burden across the dimensions of life. The tradition describes the debts to the Devas, fulfilled through yajna and worship; to the Rishis, fulfilled through learning and transmitting knowledge; and to the Pitrus, fulfilled through honoring ancestors and lineage. Financial liabilities, unfulfilled duties and karmic burdens can likewise weigh upon a being and restrict forward movement.

sindhūravarṇaṁ dvibhujaṁ gaṇeśaṁ lambodaraṁ padmadaḷe niviṣṭam | brahmādi devaiḥ pari sevyamānaṁ siddhair yutaṁ taṁ praṇamāmi devam || - "I bow in reverence to that Ganesha of vermillion complexion, with two arms, with a vast belly, seated upon a lotus petal, being served on all sides by Brahma and the gods, surrounded by the Siddhas - I offer my prostration to that divine Lord."

The Rna Hara Ganapati Homa invokes Bhagavan Ganesha's power to release these bonds and restore freedom, lightness and responsible forward movement. The prayer is not an escape from rightful duty. Buddhi Ganapati Homa - Intelligence and Memory

Buddhi Ganapati is Bhagavan Mahaganapati united with Buddhi Devi, the divine power of intelligence, discrimination and clear perception. In the Ganesha tradition, Buddhi is one of His primary Shaktis alongside Siddhi. Their relationship expresses that genuine power must be guided by genuine intelligence. Ganesha's elephant head is understood as the seat of immense intelligence, capable of holding sacred knowledge in complete recall.

The Buddhi Ganapati Homa invokes blessings for clarity of perception, analytical ability, memory, recall and the discrimination to apply knowledge appropriately. It is offered for students, scholars, professionals and spiritual seekers, yet its purpose goes beyond academic performance. The deeper Buddhi allows one to recognize truth through the distortions of conditioning and incompletion, and then to live and act from that recognition.

Trailokya Mohanakara Ganapati Homa - Raksha Pradam

Trailokya Mohanakara Ganapati is the form of Bhagavan Mahaganapati who encompasses and protects the three worlds: Bhu Loka, the earthly realm; Bhuvar Loka, the intermediate realm; and Svar Loka, the celestial realm. Mohanakara indicates the power of supreme attraction. His Ankusha, the goad of divine direction, and Pasha, the rope of divine protection, express His governance and guidance across these planes.

This homa is offered for Raksha Pradam, the bestowal of multidimensional protection. Its sankalpa may include protection from physical dangers and accidents, subtle negative influences, ill intentions and disturbances, as well as the wellbeing of family, home and resources. Its highest prayer is protection of the spiritual path, so that circumstance and accumulated karma do not turn the devotee away from the highest destination. Arka Ganapati Homa - Removal of Malefic Planetary Effects

Arka Ganapati is the solar form of Bhagavan Mahaganapati; Arka is a Sanskrit name for the Sun, the cosmic source of light, vitality and the measure of time. Vedic Jyotisha understands the Navagraha as planetary forces whose influences operate through karma.
