What Is It?

Vishesha Naivedya Seva is the offering of specially prepared sacred foods to Bhagavan Mahaganapati during KAILASA's Ganesha Chaturthi Brahmotsavam 2026. Its central offering is the 108 Modaka Naivedya: 108 sweet modakas, also known as Kozhukattai, placed before Bhagavan Ganesha with devotion. The Vishesha Naivedya also includes fruits, sweets and other sacred preparations made according to Agamic prescription.

The offering is presented with the full Shodasopachara, the sixteen-step worship protocol through which the deity receives the honors due to the Supreme Lord. Within this complete puja, Naivedya is not ordinary food. It is first offered to Bhagavan Mahaganapati with mantra and devotion, expressing gratitude for nourishment and surrendering the fruits of one's effort to the divine. The worship carries the sankalpa of the devotee in the presence of THE SPH BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM.

Significance

The modaka is Bhagavan Ganesha's most sacred food offering and a precise spiritual symbol. Its sweet inner filling of jaggery and coconut represents the sweetness of the ultimate spiritual experience, the Ananda of Brahmajnana. Its simple outer form of rice flour represents human life, within which that supreme sweetness is held. In offering a modaka, the devotee offers the aspiration for the highest spiritual experience and seeks Bhagavan Ganesha's grace to attain it.

The count of 108 signifies sacred completeness. The 108 modakas represent the 108 names of Bhagavan Ganesha, the 108 Upanishads and the completeness of all possible spiritual attainments. Each modaka becomes an individual gesture of worship, while the whole offering expresses fullness: the wish that no dimension of the devotee's life or spiritual aspiration remain outside the grace of Mahaganapati.

The Vishesha Naivedya embodies the Vedic injunction Annam Bahu-kurveetha - "Let food be there in plenty." - Taittiriya Upanishad. Offering food to the Lord in abundance is an act of gratitude for the sustaining gifts of life. Through Shodasopachara, that abundance is placed within a complete ceremonial relationship of welcome, honor, worship and loving service to the deity.

This seva is offered on Ganesha Chaturthi day, 14 September 2026, during KAILASA's Ganesha Chaturthi Brahmotsavam 2026. The Brahmotsavam is observed from 14-23 September 2026, concluding with Anantha Chaturdashi, at KAILASA's temples worldwide, including Sripuram, Adi Kailasa, Los Angeles, Houston, Ohio, Toronto, Singapore, Australia, Seeragapadi and hundreds more.
