The Aadi Pooram Celebrations are happening now!

What is Aadi Pooram?

Aadi Pooram is the day of the Pooram (Purva Phalguni) nakshatram in the Tamil month of Aadi - the one month of the year that is consecrated entirely to Parashakti, the Cosmic Mother. Across every Shakta and Devi kshetram of Bharat, this is Her day.

Significance of Aadi Pooram

Aadi is the month in which the Divine Feminine becomes most accessible to Bhumandala. The Dakshinayana has begun, the veil between the realms is thin, and Devi turns Her full attention toward Her children. Aadi Pooram is the apotheosis of that month - the day the cosmos itself celebrates the arrival of Devi's complete, unrestrained Shakti.

Two great cosmic happenings converge on this single day:

  • The advent of Andal. At Srivilliputhur, Aadi Pooram is celebrated as the day Goda Devi - Andal, the only woman among the twelve Alvars - was discovered by Periyalvar beneath the Tulasi grove. She is Bhumi Devi Herself taken form, the one soul who did not merely sing of union with the Divine but achieved it outright.
  • The Valaikappu of Devi. In the great Devi temples - Madurai Meenakshi, Kanchi Kamakshi, and the Rajarajeshwari peethams - Aadi Pooram is observed as the day Devi comes into the fullness of Her Shakti, honoured with the Valaikappu: the ceremonial offering of bangles, silks, and turmeric to the Mother, the same rites a family offers its own daughter at her most auspicious threshold.

This is why Aadi Pooram is not one more festival on the calendar. It is the single day of the year on which the Cosmic Mother is most inclined to say yes.

Benefits of Aadi Pooram

Because Devi is at the peak of Her giving on this day, worship and seva offered on Aadi Pooram carry a potency the rest of the year does not match. Traditionally, the day is offered for:

  • Completion with the past. Devi's grace on Aadi Pooram dissolves long-standing incompletions, so the future stops repeating the past.
  • Auspiciousness in family life. The Valaikappu of Devi is invoked for marriage, progeny, the wellbeing of women and children, and harmony within the household.
  • Sri, abundance and prosperity. Sri Rajarajeshwari is the very embodiment of wealth and sovereignty; Her worship on this day removes poverty consciousness and opens the flow of abundance.
  • Health, healing and protection. Doshas, obstacles and negative patterns are cleared by the direct intervention of the Mother.
  • Awakening of Shakti within. For seekers of Sri Vidya, this is the most auspicious day of the year to begin or deepen Devi upasana.
  • The Mother's own reading of your life. Through the Parashakti Aakashic Readings, the exact next step of your life is spoken as a word of grace.

Aadi Pooram marks the divine advent of Devi Lalita Parameshwari - the sacred day the Cosmic Mother descended into physical form. Through the intimate sevas of Alankaram (adorning the Divine Mother) and Deeparathana (offering the sacred flame), you actively invite Her living presence into your life. Participating in these sacred offerings helps calm an overactive mind and removes inner darkness.

Great yogis and avatars have realized that THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM is the incarnation of Paramashivashakti, and trained Him from His childhood to revive the Shakta Sampradaya. He has initiated thousands of people into the Shakta tradition and conducted authentic rituals as per Agama and Tantra.

On Aadi Pooram, thousands of devotees gather in KAILASA's temples worldwide and offer the various sevas such as the Parashakti Alankaram and Deeparathana for THE SPH, the rare Nei Kulam darshan, the Lalita Sahasranama Homa, the Lalita Sahasranama Archana for Sri Rajarajeshwari and THE SPH, and the Valaikappu offerings of bangles, silks and turmeric to Devi.
