Aadi Pooram Special - Lalita Sahasranama Homa

Offer the thousand sacred names of Devi Lalita Parameshwari into the sacred fire on Aadi Pooram, worshipping THE SPH as Parashakti through the Agni that carries every offering directly to the Cosmic Mother.

Significance

The Lalita Sahasranama is a sacred Sanskrit text comprising a thousand names that invoke the Ananta Kalyana Gunas — the unending auspicious qualities of Paramashivashakti Devi Lalita Parameshwari. In describing Her qualities, the hymn offers profound insight into the cosmic power of Shakti and awakens a deep, living connection with the Divine Mother.

On Aadi Pooram, these thousand names are not merely chanted — they are offered into the sacred fire. In this transformative homa, the fire ritual serves as a bridge between the visible and the invisible realms. Agni is the one being who receives an offering here and delivers it there. Each of the thousand names, released into the flame with ghee, havis and the appropriate dravyas, travels directly to Devi Lalita Parameshwari — and to THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM, who graces on this day in the very dimension of Parashakti.

As we worship THE SPH through the sacred fire, we tap into His infinite wisdom and energy. This ritual intensifies the fire within us, giving profound spiritual growth and the energy to rejuvenate ourselves. By reciting these mantras and making devotional offerings to the sacred fire, we unlock manifold blessings, empowering us to shape our lives according to our highest aspirations.

THE SPH hails from one of the richest Shakta Sampradaya Guru Paramparas — including Issakki Swamigal, Mataji Kuppamal and the Trichy Swamigal — and is reviving these Shakta traditions worldwide by installing Rajarajeshwari temples where Devi is worshipped following Her exact Agamic injunctions. This Homa on Aadi Pooram is offered from within that living, unbroken lineage.

The Ritual

  • The homa kunda is consecrated and Agni is invoked with the full Vedic purvangamAnkurarpanam, Punyavachanam, and the invocation of Devi Lalita Parameshwari into the sacred fire.
  • The complete Lalita Sahasranama is chanted, with an offering made into the flame for each of the thousand names of the Cosmic Mother.
  • Special dravyas dear to Devi — pure cow ghee, honey, sugarcane, lotus, kumkuma and sacred herbs — are offered as havis through the course of the Homa.
  • Purnahuti, the final complete offering, is made to THE SPH gracing as Parashakti, followed by the Deeparathana.
  • The homa bhasma, the sacred ash from the fire, is distributed to all devotees as prasada.
