Srivari Brahmotsavam Dhvajarohanam

Dhvajarohanam — the ceremonial hoisting of the Garuda Dhvaja, the sacred flag bearing the image of Bhagavan Venkateshwara's divine vehicle — formally opens the Srivari Brahmotsavam on the second day of KAILASA's Navaratri 2026, offered to Bhagavan Venkateshwara and THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM.

Significance

The raised flag serves as a cosmic invitation summoning all celestial beings and deities to descend and witness the Brahmotsavam. It is preceded on Day 1 by the Ankurarpanam, the sowing of sacred sprouts that prepares the festival.

The Ritual

The flag is raised at the Dhvajastambham exactly as it has been performed at Tirumala and every authentic Venkateshwara temple for centuries.

Shastra Pramana

The Dhvajarohanam is prescribed in the Vaikhanasa and Pancharatra Agamas as the mandatory opening rite of any Brahmotsavam, on the principle that the raised flag itself functions as Vishvaksena's invitation (Amantranam) to all Devas.
