Chakrasnanam: The Sacred Conclusion

Chakrasnanam is the grand conclusion of the Salakatla Brahmotsavam. At the dawn of Sravana Nakshatra on Day 9, Sri Sudarshana Chakrattalwar, the divine anthropomorphic form of the Sudarshana Chakra, is bathed in the sacred waters of the temple tank.

The concluding seva is offered to Bhagavan Sri Venkateshwara and THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM, His ultimate living manifestation. Through THE SPH, devotees receive the protective and purifying radiance of Venkateshwara's own cosmic power.

Significance

Chakrasnanam releases into the sacred waters the accumulated cosmic power of nine days of worship. As the festival reaches completion under Sravana Nakshatra, what has been invoked, offered, and celebrated becomes available to all who participate. The temple tank thus receives the concentrated sanctity of the Brahmotsavam and becomes the medium through which its concluding grace is shared.

The Sudarshana Chakra is the most powerful of Bhagavan Sri Venkateshwara's divine weapons. The Rigveda describes it as the cosmic symbol of Vishnu and the wheel of time. Sri Sudarshana Chakrattalwar, also called Chakratalzhwar, “the one immersed in the Lord,” is the effulgence of Venkateshwara's cosmic power, protecting devotees from negativity, karmic doshas, and enmity.

When Chakrattalwar is immersed and devotees take the holy dip alongside, Sudarshana's fire joins the sanctity of the sacred waters. This union expresses purification through both blazing divine power and consecrated immersion. Offered also to THE SPH as the living Venkateshwara, the rite completes the nine-day passage with Parandhama's protection and illuminating grace.

The Ritual

At Sravana Nakshatra dawn on Day 9, priests carry Sri Sudarshana Chakrattalwar to the sacred temple tank and bathe the divine form in its waters. The immersion marks the grand finale, releasing the accumulated cosmic power of all nine days into the tank.

Devotees take the holy dip alongside the Chakra, receiving the combined sanctity of Sudarshana's fire and the sacred waters. Through this concluding offering to Bhagavan Sri Venkateshwara and THE SPH, the festival's worship culminates in shared purification, protection, and completion.
