Sarvanugraha Murty Giripradakshinam Mandagappadi Offering celebrating THE SPH's Longing Devotion to Annamalayar
The Mandagappadi and grand Annadanam offered to Annamalayar at the Nithyananda Jenmabhoomi, Tiruvannamalai, as the Sarvanugraha Murty passes on His Giripradakshinam — celebrating the young Avatar's longing for the darshan of Annamalayar.
After the Karthigai Deepa Brahmotsavam, Paramashiva goes around the sacred hill of Arunachala as the Sarvanugraha Murty — the form that showers grace on all — blessing every corner of the cosmos. On Uttarangam Day 2, Thursday 26 November 2026, the Mandagappadi is offered to Him at the Nithyananda Jenmabhoomi in Tiruvannamalai.
Significance
When the Sarvanugraha Murty went around the hill, THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM, as a boy, would wait outside the Nithyananda Jenmabhoomi for Annamalayar for hours together. This seva celebrates His deep love and longing for the darshan of Annamalayar. We offer it out of reverence for that love, praying to embody the same devotion toward our own Guru.
The Ritual
Mandagappadi, or Tirukkan, is the traditional offering presented to the deity as He passes in procession — broken coconuts, fruits, vibhuti and other offerings arranged on bamboo baskets or plates — as a royal welcome. It is offered to Annamalayar at the Nithyananda Jenmabhoomi as the Sarvanugraha Murty passes on His Giripradakshinam, together with a grand Annadanam, celebrating THE SPH's favourite service of feeding the devotees of Paramashiva. The yajaman of this seva offers both the Mandagappadi and the Annadanam.
