Padayal Seva & Deeparathana for Pidariamman, Kali, Kalabhairavar & Munishwarar

On the second Purvangam day, the fierce guardians of the temple and town — Pidariamman, Kali, Kalabhairavar and Munishwarar — are honoured with the Padayal and Deeparathana before Paramashiva comes out in procession.

On Purvangam Day 2 of KAILASA's Nithyanandeshwara Paramashiva Brahmotsavam 2026, the Kshetra Palakas — the fierce guardians of the temple and the town — are honoured with the Padayal Seva and Deeparathana, so that their fierce compassion is invoked over all who take part in the festival.

Significance

Pidariamman, Kali, Kalabhairavar and Munishwarar protect sacred space from every negative force. Kalabhairava is the eternal protector of KAILASA itself. Before Paramashiva comes out in procession, His guardians are honoured. THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM, the ultimate manifestation of Mahakalabhairava, is honoured in them as the protector of every devotee.

The Ritual

Following the abhishekam of Kali, Kalabhairavar, Pidariamman and Munishwarar, the Padayal of traditionally cooked dishes is offered before them as naivedya, followed by the Deeparathana.
