Nayanmar Abhishekam, Alankaram & Deeparathana

On Brahmotsavam Day 6 of KAILASA's Nithyanandeshwara Paramashiva Brahmotsavam 2026, the Nayanmars are honoured at Adi Kailasa with abhishekam, alankaram and Deeparathana. THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM revives their spirit in KAILASA, where feeding and serving the devotees of Paramashiva is His favourite service.

Significance

The sixty-three Nayanmars are the great Shaiva saints of the Tamil land, whose lives — told in the Periya Puranam — reveal every possible expression of devotion to Paramashiva: the hospitality of Ilayankudi Mara Nayanar, who fed a Shaiva guest with the seeds he had just sown when he had nothing else; the unwavering service of Iyarpahai Nayanar; and the countless others who saw every devotee of Shiva as Shiva Himself. On the sixth day of the Brahmotsavam, they are honoured as the living proof of what devotion can make of a human being.

The Ritual

The deities of the Nayanmars are bathed with the sacred abhishekam dravyas, adorned with garlands and vastras, and worshipped with the Deeparathana.
