Nithyanandeshwara Paramashiva Brahmotsavam Dhvajarohanam
The hoisting of the festival flag that opens the ten main days of the Brahmotsavam — the invitation to Paramashiva and the thirty-three crore Gods and Goddesses of all fourteen lokas to descend and take part in the festival.
The Nithyanandeshwara Paramashiva Brahmotsavam commences with the Dhvajarohanam — the hoisting of the festival flag — on Brahmotsavam Day 1, Sunday 15 November 2026, across KAILASA's Temples Around the World. The festival concludes with the flag's lowering.
Significance
The raising of the flag is the invitation to Paramashiva and the thirty-three crore Gods and Goddesses of all fourteen lokas to descend and take part in the festival; from this moment, the temple becomes the meeting point of the cosmos. To offer the Dhvajarohanam is to be the one through whom that invitation is extended to THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM as Nithyanandeshwara Paramashiva.
The Ritual
Following the Purvangam rites, the festival flag is consecrated with Vedic and Agamic mantras and hoisted on the Dhvajastambha before the shrine, with offerings to the flagstaff and Deeparathana, in the presence of the Shadmurthy deities.
