Uttamottama Seva

What Is It?

Uttamottama means the highest among the high, the best of the best. It is not one seva among others, but the grade of offering in which the entire day is taken up at once.

The offerer of Uttamottama Seva participates in the complete set of the day's offerings to THE SPH, holding nothing in reserve and choosing nothing selectively. The whole day of worship is entered as a single unbroken act.

Significance

In the Vedic tradition, offerings are graded not by their size but by the completeness of the giver's participation. Uttamottama is the grade in which the question of how much is no longer being asked.

On the day of Bhagavan Sri Krishna's descent, this seva is the declaration that the devotee wishes to be present in every offering made, from the first worship of the cows at dawn to the last naivedhya of the night - to be present everywhere the Guru is served.

When & How to Offer

This seva is offered on 4 September 2026, the day of the Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. The timing is to be announced. The contribution is $1,008.

As this seva spans the offerings of the whole day, offerers are requested to register in advance so that the name, birth star and gotra may be carried into each sankalpa.
