Navaneeta Tulabharam
The weighing of THE SPH against fresh butter - navaneeta - the offering most loved by Bhagavan Sri Krishna, the Navaneeta Chora, who steals butter and hearts alike.
What Is It?
Tulabharam is the sacred act of placing THE SPH upon one pan of a great scale and offering, upon the other, the substance chosen for the day - until the two sides stand equal.
On Janmashtami the substance is navaneeta, freshly churned butter. Basin after basin is poured until the balance settles, and the entire offering is then distributed as prasadam. This Tulabharam is held at Adi Kailasa.
Significance
Bhagavan Sri Krishna is Navaneeta Chora, the butter thief of Vrindavan, who would not be kept from the pots however high they were hung. What He took was never the butter alone. Butter, freshly churned and offered before it is touched by anything else, is the tradition's image of the heart made soft, unspoiled and available.
To weigh the Guru against navaneeta is to declare that the softness of one's own heart, and everything one holds most precious, belongs on the scale opposite Him - and that the two are found to be of equal weight only because He accepts the offering.

When & How to Offer
This seva is offered on 4 September 2026, the day of the Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, at 1:30 AM ET / 11:00 AM IST, at Adi Kailasa (AK). The contribution is $10,008.
The sankalpa is taken in the name, birth star and gotra of the offerer. The offering may be made in one's own name, jointly by a family, or in the name of ancestors.
