Vaastu Shanti Homa

The Vaastu Shanti Homa propitiates the eight-directional guardians and elemental energies — the Vaastu Purusha — governing the sacred space in which Navaratri will be celebrated, offered at KAILASA Sripuram, NJK and Adheenam Kailasa under the guidance of THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM.

Significance

Before the intensified divine presence of Navaratri is invoked, the temple ground itself is aligned, pacified and made hospitable to receive it.

The Ritual

The Vastoshpati Sukta of the Rig Veda is recited while oblations consecrate the ground, walls and directions of the temple space.

Shastra Pramana

वास्तोष्पते प्रति जानीह्यस्मान्त्स्वावेशो अनमीवो भवा नः । यत्त्वेमहे प्रति तन्नो जुषस्व शं नो भव द्विपदे शं चतुष्पदे ॥

vāstoṣpate prati jānīhyasmāntsvāveśo anamīvo bhavā naḥ | yattvemahe prati tanno juṣasva śaṃ no bhava dvipade śaṃ catuṣpade ||

Translation: “O Lord of the dwelling, acknowledge us; grant us a good entrance, free of illness. Whatever we ask of You, be pleased to grant it — bring us welfare, both two-footed and four-footed.” — Rig Veda 7.54.1 (Vastoshpati Sukta)
