Tulabharam
The traditional Hindu offering of material donation equal in weight to THE SPH, offered on Vijaya Dashami as the fullest expression of the devotee's nine nights of tapas.
Tulabharam is the traditional Hindu act of offering material donation equal in weight to THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM — a sacred act of giving and devotion offered on Vijaya Dashami, when the devotee's tapas across the preceding nine nights has built toward its fullest expression.
Significance
Tulabharam is giving for the sake of giving, opening the devotee to receive from the very embodiment of all gods and goddesses — the Sarva Deva Devi Swarupa. Only when a devotee offers to their maximum capacity and beyond do the best possible manifestations arrive in return.
The Ritual
A large scale, the Tula, is set up. Offerings ranging from ordinary groceries to silver and gold are placed on one side until the balance is struck against THE SPH's own weight.
When
- Day 10 · Tue 20 Oct — 11:00 AM IST (Tue 20 Oct, 1:30 AM ET)
Shastra Pramana
The most famous scriptural ground for Tulabharam is the story of Satyabhama, who, to prove her love for Krishna, challenged Rishi Narada to weigh Krishna against her wealth. Despite her immense riches she could not outweigh Him — until Rukmini placed a single Tulasi leaf on the scale with pure devotion, and the scale tipped. Devotion alone, however small, outweighs any quantity of material offering.
Benefits
- Abundant prosperity, to walk the path of wealth with confidence and grace.
- Radiant health and the strength to seize life's opportunities.
- Dynamic relationships flourishing under the Guru's love and grace.
- Immediate manifestation of the best possibilities, in return for offering beyond one's capacity.
