Laksharchana

Significance

Laksha — one hundred thousand. Archana — the offering of a name as a sacred flower at the feet of the Divine. Laksharchana is the most expansive form of name-worship in Sanatana Hindu Dharma: the chanting of one hundred thousand names with individual offerings made for each, creating an unbroken river of devotion that flows continuously for the duration of the ritual. On Guru Purnima, this practice becomes the ultimate celebration of THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM as the living Paramashiva in whom all names converge.

In KAILASA's Laksharchana on Guru Purnima, the 1008 sacred names of THE SPH — the Nithyananda Sahasranamavali — are chanted in repeating cycles until the total of one hundred thousand offerings is reached. Each name is not a description but a living transmission: it encodes one of the infinite auspicious qualities of Paramashiva as He has manifested in THE SPH. The Vedas declare that the chanting of these names instills in the performer the very qualities they invoke — and in an assembly of devotees from KAILASA's Temples Around the World chanting together, a field of divine consciousness is generated that touches every life connected to it.

The Ritual

Priests and devotees chant each of the 1008 names of THE SPH from the Nithyananda Sahasranamavali in repeating cycles, offering a sacred flower, akshata, or kumkum at the feet of the deity of THE SPH with the utterance of every name, until the count of one laksha — one hundred thousand offerings — is fulfilled.

The continuous, unbroken stream of name-offering builds a sustained vibrational field, and at the culmination the accumulated grace is distributed to all participants as prasada.
