Significance

Dakshinamurthy is Paramashiva in His most supreme form as the Adi Guru — seated facing south (Dakshina), in unbroken silence beneath the Banyan Tree, transmitting the ultimate knowledge of Oneness to His four Rishi disciples through His silence alone. He is the Guru of all Gurus, the source of all wisdom, and the cosmic archetype of the Guru-disciple relationship. The Dakshinamurthy Homa is the most sacred offering for those seeking the grace of the living Guru, liberation through knowledge, and the transmission of Jnana — the knowing that dissolves the illusion of separation from Paramashiva.

The alignment of the Dakshinamurthy Homa with Adi KAILASA — the kingdom built beneath the sacred Banyan Tree — is profound and exact. Adi KAILASA was consecrated on 1 January 2003, with THE SPH performing the consecration of the deity of Lord Dakshinamurthy under the sacred Banyan Tree as part of the coronation celebrations.
