Aavahanti Homa — Day 4 (23 Jul)

Significance

The Aavahanti Homa is the sacred fire ritual of divine invocation — Aavahana meaning "to summon" or "to invoke." Through prescribed Vedic and Agamic chanting, the deity is formally called into the fire, into the space, and into the hearts of all participants. The Aavahanti is one of the most foundational homas in the Agamic tradition, performed at the commencement of major sacred events to establish the divine presence as the presiding witness and bestower of all blessings that follow.

On the day of the Thiruchengode Sarvajnapeetha, the Aavahanti Homa carries deep significance: it mirrors the very act performed by THE SPH on 14 April 2001, when He consecrated the presiding deities and formally invoked the cosmic divine presence into the land that would become the first seed of KAILASA's revival. To offer the Aavahanti Homa on this day is to participate in that original divine invocation — summoning Paramashiva's presence into the brahmotsavam and into one's own life.

The Ritual

The priests consecrate the Agni Kunda and, through prescribed Vedic and Agamic Aavahana chanting, formally summon the presiding deity into the fire, into the festival space, and into the hearts of all participants. Oblations are offered to seat and honour the invoked presence, establishing the deity as the presiding witness and bestower of every blessing that follows through the brahmotsavam.
