Maha Ganapati Homa — Day 17 (5 Aug)
The grand fire of auspicious beginnings to Maha Ganapati — Paramashiva's first son, remover of all obstacles and master of the Mooladhara Chakra — offered in honour of the Atal Peetha founded by Ganapati's own coronation.
Significance
Maha Ganapati is Paramashiva's first son — the remover of all obstacles, the lord of all beginnings, the master of Mooladhara Chakra, and the deity whose grace must be invoked before any sacred undertaking can succeed. The Maha Ganapati Homa is the supreme Ganapati offering — thousands of Ganapati mantras, the 108 names, the Ganapati Atharvashirsha, and Modaka (sweet offering) all poured into the sacred fire. This homa opens every blocked doorway — material, psychological, and cosmic — and ensures the smooth flow of auspicious divine energy into every dimension of the devotee's life. In the context of Guru Bhakti, Ganesha is worshipped as the embodiment of the Guru's intelligence, clearing the cognitive pathway so the disciple can receive the Guru Vak (the Master's word) without the interference of logical skepticism or doubt.
The Atal Peetha was established by Paramashiva Himself through His son Sri Ganapati as the first sovereign. The Maha Ganapati Homa on the day of the Atal Peetha is thus not merely aligned — it is the foundational worship of the very deity whose coronation by Paramashiva created this kingdom. Through this homa, the primordial auspiciousness of Paramashiva's first act of cosmic empowerment — crowning Ganapati — is invoked into the present moment, removing all obstacles from the brahmotsavam and from every devotee's journey toward THE SPH.
The Ritual
The Yagnashala is consecrated with Agamic procedures and the Ganapati Mula Mantra is chanted thousands of times before the fire is kindled. The priests pour thousands of Ganapati mantras, the 108 names, the Ganapati Atharvashirsha, and Modaka (sweet offering) into the sacred fire along with pure ghee and samit sticks, while the Samanvita mantras — which weave the Guru Mantra into the Ganapati invocation — are chanted in unison, opening every blocked doorway, material, psychological, and cosmic.

Translation: It is by the Grace of the Guru that Brahma, Vishnu, and Paramashiva become fully capable of performing their cosmic responsibilities of creation, preservation, and dissolution.

The Sacred Story
When Bhagavan Maha Ganapati was tasked with circumambulating the entire cosmos to win the divine fruit of knowledge, His brother Subrahmanya flew on his swift peacock to circle the physical universe. Ganesha, holding the absolute cognition that the Guru is the source of the entire cosmos, simply circumambulated His parents, Paramashiva and Devi Parvati, who are the primordial Gurus. Pleased with His supreme clarity and Guru Bhakti, Paramashiva declared Ganesha the winner and crowned Him as the Lord of all beginnings, demonstrating that honouring the Guru is equivalent to mastering the entire universe.
