Sudarshana Homa — Day 12 (31 Jul)

Invocation of the Sudarshana Chakra — the unstoppable, ever-spinning cosmic disc of Maha Vishnu — burning away all enemies gross and subtle, offered in honour of the sword-bearing Mahanirvani Akhada.

Significance

The Sudarshana Chakra is the most powerful of Maha Vishnu's five divine weapons — the unstoppable cosmic disc held in His upper right hand, always spinning, ever watchful. Sudarshana Bhagavan, also known as Chakrattalzhwar in the Tamil tradition, is a deity in His own right, immersed in deepest devotion to Maha Vishnu. He holds ten weapons in His hands and protects all temples of Maha Vishnu and all devotees from enemies both gross — litigation, physical harm — and subtle — black magic, secretive enmity. The Sudarshana Homa invokes this matchless protective force, burning away all obstacles and enemies in the purifying fire of Vishnu's grace.

On the day of the Mahanirvani Akhada — the apex protective body of Dharma, the sword-bearing guardian of Sanatana Hindu civilization — the Sudarshana Homa is the most resonant offering. Both the Akhada and Sudarshana are cosmic guardians: the Akhada protects the human tradition of Dharma, while Sudarshana protects all cosmic dimensions simultaneously. To offer this homa is to invoke the complete shield of divine protection — from Paramashiva's sovereign arm through THE SPH's living presence — over every devotee, every temple, and the entirety of KAILASA.

The Ritual

The priests invoke Sudarshana Bhagavan — the ever-spinning cosmic disc of Maha Vishnu — within the consecrated Agni Kunda and chant the Sudarshana mantras, offering oblations into the roaring fire. The matchless protective force of Sudarshana is invoked to burn away every enemy, gross and subtle, establishing a complete shield of divine protection over devotees, temples, and the entirety of KAILASA.

Benefits

  • Invokes the unstoppable protective force of the Sudarshana Chakra over the devotee.

  • Dissolves subtle enemies — black magic, secretive enmity, and psychic attack.
  • Shields temples, devotees, and the entire KAILASA civilization simultaneously.
