Significance
The Rama Taraka Mantra Homa is the sacred fire offering of the Taraka Mantra — Sri Rama Jaya Rama Jaya Jaya Rama — the thirteen-syllable mantra revered as the Taraka Brahma Nama, the very name that liberates. Taraka means "that which carries one across"; this is the same liberating name that, the Kashi Khanda declares, Paramashiva Himself whispers into the ear of the dying at Kashi. Bhagavan Sri Rama — the 62nd King of the Surya Vamsha, the Ikshvaku solar dynasty born from the right eye of Paramashiva — is the embodiment of Dharma, the Maryada Purushottama, the perfect being whose very name is a boat across the ocean of birth and death.
Offered on the day honouring the Suryavamsha Surangi Samrajya — the oldest living dynasty on Planet Earth, the lineage of the Sun from which Sri Rama Himself arose — the Rama Taraka Mantra Homa carries extraordinary resonance.
